This lecture looks at the complications which might arise due to surgical treatment in osteoporotic spine. The lecture covers the reasons why the osteoporotic spine fails so quickly. The patterns of failures which come to clinics are covered, using real clinical examples. Strategies to improve the clinical situations are discussed with reference to cases which had been treated in the appropriate manner. Also discussed are the steps which can help the survival of fixation in these challenging situations.
