Lecture: Surgical Management for the Subaxial Cervical Spine in Rheumatoid Arthritis
This spine surgery lecture introduces principles in the diagnosis and surgical management for the subaxial cervical spine in rheumatoid arthritis. Recommendations: ‘Hidden’ Subaxial subluxation may present after C1/C2 fusion or occipital cervical fusion. Consider pre-operative BMD. The choice of anterior/posterior/combined is dependent on surgeon preference. If undecided, choose a longer fusion over a shorter one. Post-op follow up is important.
