Lecture: Spine Surgery Patient Positioning and Complication Avoidance
In this lecture, the complications occurring due to incorrect patient positioning during spine surgery are discussed. The common positions in which the spine surgeon has to operate are covered. The pressure areas are highlighted and the complications which arise are presented in light of the clinical data. The lecture takes a detailed look at the dreaded complications, especially the ocular and the haemodynamic ones. Finally, the lecturer advises on the precautions and the safety measures which need to be undertaken to avoid these preventable complications.
